rave: flickr turns 4 birthday party

Flickr turns 4, originally uploaded by Steve Rhodes.

and they posted the photo I submitted :) it is the third column over, third row down. click here to see the full size image. to date, it is one of my favorite photos that i've taken. not only because of the way it came out, but because the lovely couple are great friends. you can truly see how much they love each other and how much they are enjoying their day. Thank you Steve Rhodes for taking pictures of the exhibit...i really appreciate it. the party looked pretty darn cool....

rave: josh kelley

met josh kelley this weekend at the cole haan store at the domain here in austin. he played a couple songs for their private shopping event sponsored by men's vogue that b got an invite for. another attendee was nice enough to snap a photo for me since we forgot our camera. she also sent a couple others. you can see the rest on my flickr site.

rave: happy st. patrick's day!

if you're in austin, tx and happen to be downtown, look out for the guaranty bank leprechauns and street teams...they are handing out stuff (and money!)

rant: they made outlook and cell phones for a reason

i hate when people insist on appointments at the earliest possible time and then flake. especially when you are trying to earn my business...especially if your company is providing a service. then blame it on, "i sent you an email letting you know i need to reschedule. didn't you get it?" the morning of the appointment. am i wrong to expect customer service from someone in the service industry? the courteous thing to do would be to call some one and let them know instead of sending an email. you'd call your friends if you needed to cancel. i would see that as doing your part on providing great service. don't wait for your potential client to call you. prove to me that you are worth my $20k. yes...i'm about to dish out $20k...not personally...but still.

what irks me even more is when you call me back, you tell me you've done the proposal and worked it out that you can stay within my budget. seriously, i'm giving you $20k to feed 500 people grab and go breakfast...that is $40 for breakfast tacos, danishes, coffee and juice. honestly, i appreciate your work, but how do i know you actually already did it? you could be working on it now because you didn't do it yesterday? so how am i suppose to believe that you will provide me excellent service if i hire you? how can i be sure that you won't be late or not show up at all for my event? so, now i've got to re-arrange my day tomorrow and squeeze you in. i think i'm going to go visit some of your competition this afternoon...maybe they'll provide me some service...like actually having a meeting with me and wanting my $20k.

rant:craving

can't get it out of my head. if the weather here wasn't so crappy, i'd probably drive somewhere to get some. but i'm lazy and it's wet and rainy and cold.
anyone deliver?

rant: hong kong government says, "smoking kills"

Hongkong Government warning, originally uploaded by euke_1974.

they sure don't joke around about it. no fluff about what smoking can do to you.

rant: sweet tart gummy bunnies

these things are so freakin good. purchased some at target...limited to just easter. get some. now.

rave: jelly bean wine bar

huh?

yeah, that was my first reaction too, but after some reading, it makes sense and seems pretty darn cool. jelly bean wine bar is a company that has figured out the combinations of certain flavors of jelly beans can taste like wine. such as, if you chew a combination of peach, pear, apricot, apple, cantaloupe, grapefruit and tangerine beans, it tastes (yum!) roughly like riesling. they even have dirt and pepper flavors for the red wines, such as the pinot noir.

when you order from the website you order these kits that come in either 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or 1 pound. the size and weight indicate how much you'll get of each flavor to make the desired "wine". You can also order shooters which are like shots, but with jelly beans.

seems pretty cool. maybe will try it out for a work event and see how it goes. if anyone has tried this, let me know, i'm curious on how accurate the flavoring is.

jelly beans and wine anyone?
